I'm starting this blog because it is fall break and I'm on campus. I hope to get some homework done later but for now I'm making a blog.
In correspondance with a painter friend Van Gogh wrote:
"Alas, alas, it's just as our excellent pal Cyprien says, in En ménage by J. K. Huysmans, the most beautiful paintings are those one dreams of while smoking a pipe in one's bed but which one doesn't make. But it's a matter of attacking them nevertheless, however incompetent one may feel vis-à-vis the ineffable perfections of nature's glorious splendors."
this is in refrence to Starry Night. The article I found this gem in reported on a exhibit called Painted with Words at a museum in New York. The exhibit displays letters by Van Gogh to his painter friend Bernard; the letters are filled with life advice and discussion of color theory.
